I have over 10 years of combined experience in child welfare, chemical dependency, and mental health treatment. My training as a social worker prepared me to challenge values and beliefs about myself and others in order to break through the mold of “cookie cutter” methods and practices. My education and experiences allowed me to honor differences; giving me the flexibility to think outside the box while maintaining professional boundaries.

I am uniquely aware of the devastating impact untreated mental illness and substance use disorders have had on good, hardworking people of all socioeconomic statuses, and the people they love. My personal experience as a caregiver helped me understand the challenges loved ones have when attempting to access individualized services and navigating the healthcare system.

It is not a character flaw or personal failure to have an illness. You deserve to know the truth about what mental illness and addiction really are; we are more than a disorder, a spectrum of symptom clusters, caused by chemical imbalances and changes in brain structure. We are humans; not a medical diagnosis. Knowledge is the first step to destroying the stigma that is attached to these illnesses.

My counseling style is person-centered, trauma-informed, culturally, and spiritually sensitive. My intention is to be transparent about the therapeutic process and build a therapeutic relationship based on trust and mutual respect. In this context; you will discover new strengths as we collaboratively solve problems that interfere with your quality of life.
